Join us to engage with Venezuelan organizers Maria Gabriela Pilar del Blanco & Paola Martucci Gómez, of the Sex and Gender Diversity Revolutionary Alliance (ASGDRe).
ASGDRe is an organization focused on building consciousness about the LGBTQ struggle in Latin America and the Caribbean. Their organization recently celebrated 7 years since its founding and has worked with a wide variety of national and international grassroots movements. Their work spans political education workshops, cultural events, literary publications, legislative campaign accompaniment, social consciousness raising, food sovereignty projects and movement building within the Bolivarian process.
Gaby and Paola will speak to the political, social and economic dynamics currently at play in Venezuela and will give a special emphasis to the media’s role and Venezuelan history.
They will teach us about grassroots organizing with campesinos, students, feminists, LGBTQs, Afro-Venezuelans, … and educating about sexual and gender movements by the Alliance.
They come to build solidarity with our social justice movement.
Accompanied by Jeanette Charles, brought by Witness for Peace Southwest. Sponsored by Portland Central America Solidarity Committee and organized with Showing Up for Racial Justice, Portland Chapter.
